Climate in Montenegro

Coastal Region (Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva,
Petrovac, Bar, Ulcinj):

The average air temperatures in the coastal area are between 23.4 'C and 25.6 'C. Summers are mainly, hot and dry, winters are short and mild, with often rainfalls at the end of the year. The average number of sun hours in the coastal area is 2500, and goes up to 2700 sun hours in a year in the most southern town of Ulcinj.

Central Region (Cetinje, Podgorica, Danilovgrad,
Niksic):

The average air temperatures in the middle, continental part of Montenegro, in July are 26.4 'C (Podgorica), 25.4 'C (Danilovgrad). The highest temperature sometimes goes over 40 'C. Through the valley of river Boyana, across the Skadar Lake Basin by the river Moracha, sometimes can pass a wave of heat, which can make Podgorica the hottest city in the area of ex-Yugoslavia. Average temperatures in January move around 5 'C, and the lowest temperature is -10'C.

Northern Region (Kolasin, Mojkovac, Rozaje,
Pljevlja, Zabljak):
Cold and snowy winters and moderate sunny summers are characteristically for the mountain area of the Montenegrin mountains, where the climate is usually sub-alpine. The snow on the Durmitor Mountain can be 1 meter high in winter, and it stays during whole year sometimes.
